Emilija Zdraveva, junior researcher/assistant at the Department of Basic, Natural and Technical Sciences successfully defended her doctoral thesis on November 13, 2015 in the Hall of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology, Prilaz baruna Filipovića 28a. The doctoral thesis title was: Electrospun nanofibrous materials and films for heat managing applications (Elektroispredeni nanovlaknasti materijali i filmovi za regulaciju topline) and the Committee members were:

Prof. Xungai Wang, Ph.D., Deakin University, Institute for Frontier Materials, Australia

The doctoral thesis research was carried out at Deakin University, Institute for Frontier Materials, Australia, in the electrospinning lab, group of nanofibers, led by professor Tong Lin, during her stay at the Institute in 2013 and 2014/2015.

The work was supervised by prof. Budimir Mijović Ph.D., University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology (Department of Basic, Natural and Technical Sciences) and prof. Tong Lin Ph.D., Deakin University, Institute for Frontier Materials, Group of nanofibers, Australia.

Electrospinning is an effective way of producing nanofibrous materials for latent heat storage based on phase change components. Systematic research of the effect of high temperature on structure stability and mechanical behaviour determined materials reliability with phase change components including: a mixture of plant oils and polycaprolactone. Due to the rapid development of the electrospun materials towards commercialization, as prepared materials find application in protective clothing with thermoregulation or passive heat storage devices.
